Stanford Prison Study

The person that surprised me the most was prisoner 819. This prisoner rebelled against the rules, broke down crying when talking to a priest, and felt he was a bad prisoner. What surprised me even more was this prisoner was offered the option to leave the prison, but he denied to leave because he knew the other prisoners thought he was a bad prisoner. He was only able to accept leaving after he was told this was an experiment and who he actually is, or who he actually was before he became prisoner 819.

Everyone had a behavior change to fit their new role, either prisoner or guard.  The prisoners either conformed or rebelled, sometimes even acted crazy or emotionally unstable.  The guards acted cruelly to the prisoners to maintain order, some guards took it to the extreme and punished the prisoners for no reason just to humiliate them and break their will to resist.
